Charities for Trinity 2007
NCH
Our vision is of a world where all children and young people have a sense of belonging and are loved and valued. A world where they can fulfil their potential, shape their destiny and experience the joy of life. We make this vision a reality by running nearly 500 services across the UK, helping over 160,000 children, young people and their families – more than any other UK charity. We offer a wide range of services to children and their families, including help and support for young carers, advice for young people who are leaving care, counselling services for children who have been affected by sexual or physical abuse, and centres for children with disabilities.
Water Aid
WaterAid is an international non governmental organisation dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people. These most basic services are essential to life; without them vulnerable communities are trapped in the stranglehold of disease and poverty. We work by helping local organisations set up low cost, sustainable projects using appropriate technology that can be managed by the community itself. We also seek to influence the policies of other key organisations, such as governments, to secure and protect the right of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services. We are independent and rely heavily on voluntary support.
African Revival
AR works in Sudan, Uganda, and Malawi where there is extreme humanitarian need. It focuses on self-sustaining projects of microfinance, education and healthcare; key foundations of development. It’s self sufficient – all the admin costs are sponsored so any money we raised would go DIRECTLY to Africa.
It has many rewarding projects e.g. the Yei Vocational Training College runs courses for returning refugees and demobilised soldiers in carpentry, building and mechanics. It also runs a Women's Empowerment Programme for Transformation offering opportunities for women to acquire practical craft and business skills through the Craft Production Programme and Micro Enterprise Scheme enabling them to set up businesses so they can support themselves and their families.
Save the Children
Save the Children fights for children in the UK and around the world who suffer from poverty, disease, injustice and violence. We work with them to find lifelong answers to the problems they face.
Child Brain Injury Trust
CBIT exists to raise awareness, provide information, support, training and advice to families, professionals and Government to ensure that children and young people affected by an acquired brain injury (ABI) are listened to and are encouraged to lead a full and active life. Acquired brain injury can happen to anyone at anytime and the impact on a child and family is enormous. Families are often unprepared to deal with the issues and often unaware of the services their child will need or how to access them. We believe that we can make a difference to the lives of children and young people and their families.
