How to get involved with RAG
There are loads of ways to get involved with RAG, and any new ideas are welcome. You can either help running central RAG events,or run your own independent event which RAG will support through advice and promotion. There are hundreds of different types of events you can run which will raise money for charity, whether it be a fashion show, a club night, a speaker event or a photography exhibition. The possbilities are endless, and, as you will see from RAG's termcard, we like to support a diversity of events. The proceeds of your event also don't have to go into the central RAG pot - you can run a fundraiser for a particular charity in association with RAG.
Some of the ways you can help out:
- Charities Committe meets every Monday at 5pm in the OUSU Offices on Bonn Square. Everyone is welcome to come along, find out about what we're doing and share ideas.
- Become a Charities/RAG rep for your college. Reps are often elected by JCRs once a year, but you can also become a RAG rep by coming along to the meetings on Mondays and being willing to help out. The more reps we have in each college, the better.
- Organise an independent event, or an event in your college, such as a Jazz and Cocktails evening, a pub quiz, a pantomime, a charity breakfast, a charity formal hall, a charity bop, a pub quiz, a BBQ, a music festival, a Mr and Miss qualifying competition. RAG will support you with start up costs and promotion - our network of RAG reps and our vast email lists ensure that any event is well advertised. RAG also has a lot of experience with running events so can give you lots of advice.
- Find out if there are any charities that are looking for fundraisers - you can find a list of local charities and organisations at www.oxfordgetinvolved.org. Often they are keen for volunteers to organise events, and you can do this in conjunction with RAG.
- Run for a post on the RAG executive. The executive is going to be elected in 8th week of Hillary Term. To see what different positions there are, click here.
