The Ace Centre

The ACE centre is a small charity based in Oxford, specialising in the field of communication aids and assistive technologies for children with severe disabilities. ACE Centre therapists and technologists facilitate the children's ability to communicate using new technologies and computers and can even give them a voice with a special 'speech device' all tailored to their individual needs. A new area of their work in Oxfordshire is a project to adapt mainstream toys for pre-school children with disabilities.

ExVac

Exvac is a charity run solely by students that aims to provide holidays for socially deprived or disadvantaged children throughout the Oxford area. The children are chosen in conjunction with the Oxfordshire Social Services and many are young carers or have suffered from abuse at home. The holidays aim to give the children a break from their difficult domestic circumstances and allow them to interact with children of their own age. The charity run two, week long holidays for children aged 7-12 that consist of educational and entertaining trips e.g. Maidenhead Fire Station or Legoland, and offer the children opportunities that they do not necessarily have at home.
