RAG Raid - Diabetes UK

Oxford RAG raided Oxford City Centre on Saturday for Diabetes UK. The weather was kind to us and so were the public! We raised a terrific £1300 - thanks to all who helped with the raid. Bryony was top raider with £443 on her own - that's why she's RAG RAID exec officer! If you'd like to take part in any of our future raids please email bryony.tayler@some.ox.ac.uk.

Charity Bug Photo Competition Launched

Got a talent for photography - well take the RAG bug challenge. Simply email rag@ousu.org to be pidged 3 RAG bugs for free. Then use your imagination to take the bugs on a journey round Oxford to get the best photograph in oxford with the bugs in. The winning photos will be in the Oxford Student in 5th week with our favourites on this website!

Oxford 2 - 0 Cambridge

We won! Not only did Oxford beat Cambridge in this year's thrilling Varsity match but Oxford RAG were triumphant over their Cambridge counterparts in the charity collection at the stadium. Raising a terrific £862.11 Oxford RAG can be proud of their demolition...we look forward to doing battle again at the boat race!

Reading RAID

On Saturday 8 of us braved the cold wind to collect in Reading for the day in aid of the National Autistic Society. We exceeded all expectations in this, the first RAID of another city by oxford RAG in an awfully long time, raising £1600. It's an awesome total and credit goes to all who took part - especially to our top raider Bryony Tayler who raised £370 on her own!

Oxford's Got Talent

On Wednesday the Union Chamber was treated to a talent show which was, quite simply, brilliant - it turns out that Oxford does indeed have talent! We had 13 performances from college representatives and special bonus performances from Out Of The Blue and The Oxford Belles. Our judging panel (OUSU pres, Union pres and RAG VP) had the hardest job of the night choosing a top 3 but congratulations to: 1) The Teddy Hall Alternative Choir 2) Daniel Cooper 3) Joel Phillimore

The Money is being counted but it looks like we've raised nearly £1000 for RAG! Thanks to everyone who helped on the night.

In The Pink

Come down to the Dorfman Centre, St Peter's College, on Thursday of 5th week to enjoy a PINK themed party in aid of Breast Cancer Care is association with Oxford RAG and WomCam.

We'll have pink nibbles and wine (rose!) and for just £5 a ticket you'll get a glass of wine and entry to the raffle whilst helping a good cause.

Entertainment provided by the superb Oxford Belles and the Oxford University Dancesport. The raffle will have a range of fantastic prizes including a hamper kindly donated by Lush.

The RAID (street collection) on Saturday was a massive success and we raised £903.05 for Whizz-Kidz. This is a terrific effort so thank you to all those who donated their money and time to make the raid such a success.

Oxford RAG Charities Chosen for 2008/09

In the charities meeting on Monday the RAG reps voted on which charities we will support over the coming year. RAG Casino

From this year RAG has purchased a whole host of quality casino equipment for hire to common room evens, charity events and balls in Oxford. If you would like to get involved in the running of the casino RAG is offering a unique volunteering opportunity: train as a volunteer croupier in the RAG casino. Whether your interest is blackjack, poker, roulette, bingo or simply front of house this opportunity is for you. Email RAG@ousu.org for more information about volunteering and booking.

Summer

Hi All,

It's your new VP (Charities and Community) here. Hope all undergraduates are recovering after an exam filled term or, if you had no exams, are making the most of freedom before next year! Anyone who is here over the summer drop me a line rag@ousu.org as there's loads to be getting involved in.

We have BIG plans for next year so whether you are a charity/RAG rep for college or would simply like to get involved in RAG next year then let me know. We'll be choosing an exec team in 2nd week so have a look at the positions (updated) available and see what takes your fancy. I very much look forward to working with an enthusiastic committee and raising lots of awareness and money for people less advantaged than ourselves.

RAG Charities for Trinity 2008

Next term's charities were chosen at last night's meeting out of a huge list of extremely worthy charities. Our new RAG charities are: KEEN, The British Heart Foundation, Botton Hill (The Camphill Trust), Oxford Development Abroad and Practical Action.
