Welcome to the home of Oxford RAG. RAG stands for Raise And Give, which is exactly what we do with our money. We organise a wide range of events from bungee jumps & sky dives to RAG blind date, themed bar crawls to Mr & Miss Oxford, all in aid of having a good time and lining the pockets of worthy causes. Please explore this site to see what we do and how you can get involved and join in the fun. We meet every Monday of term at 5pm in OUSU - Everyone is very welcome!

In The Pink
Come down to the Dorfman Centre, St Peter's College, on Thursday of 5th week to enjoy a PINK themed party in aid of Breast Cancer Care is association with Oxford RAG and WomCam.
We'll have pink nibbles and wine (rose!) and for just £5 a ticket you'll get a glass of wine and entry to the raffle whilst helping a good cause.
Entertainment provided by the superb Oxford Belles and the Oxford University Dancesport. The raffle will have a range of fantastic prizes including a hamper kindly donated by Lush.

Train as a croupier for the RAG casino
Would you like to volunteer for charity in a new and exciting way? Then train as a volunteer croupier for the RAG casino. Gain free entry to some of Oxford's biggest events and entertain in the process. Whether you see youself as a blackjack dealer, and roulette maestro, and poker overlord or a pit boss send an email to rag@ousu.org.

RAG Raid for Whizz-kidz
The RAID (street collection) on Saturday was a massive success and we raised £903.05 for Whizz-Kidz. This is a terrific effort so thank you to all those who donated their money and time to make the raid such a success.

Oxford RAG Charities Chosen for 2008/09
In the charities meeting on Monday the RAG reps voted on which charities we will support over the coming year. It was a very tough decision but I am pleased to announce the that the following charities were chosen: Student Run - Engineers Without Borders; Students Supporting Street Kids Local - Asylum Welcome; Jacari; KEEN; OxPAT; SeeSaw National - Oaktree UK International - ODA; SightSavers

The nomination for charities to be supported by Oxford RAG has now closed. We have had a super response and it will be difficult for the charity reps to choose on Monday.

RAG Casino
From this year RAG has purchased a whole host of quality casino equipment for hire to common room evens, charity events and balls in Oxford. If you would like to get involved in the running of the casino RAG is offering a unique volunteering opportunity: train as a volunteer croupier in the RAG casino. Whether your interest is blackjack, poker, roulette, bingo or simply front of house this opportunity is for you. Email RAG@ousu.org for more information about volunteering and booking.

Summer
Hi All,
It's your new VP (Charities and Community) here. Hope all undergraduates are recovering after an exam filled term or, if you had no exams, are making the most of freedom before next year! Anyone who is here over the summer drop me a line rag@ousu.org as there's loads to be getting involved in.
We have BIG plans for next year so whether you are a charity/RAG rep for college or would simply like to get involved in RAG next year then let me know. We'll be choosing an exec team in 2nd week so have a look at the positions (updated) available and see what takes your fancy. I very much look forward to working with an enthusiastic committee and raising lots of awareness and money for people less advantaged than ourselves.

RAG Cocktails
Congratulations to all who took part in and helped organise the RAG Cocktails evening. By all accounts it was a rip-roaring success. Special thanks to Riya who has been President of RAG this last year and took the lead on this event.

RAG Charities for Trinity 2008
Next term's charities were chosen at last night's meeting out of a huge list of extremely worthy charities. Our new RAG charities are: KEEN, The British Heart Foundation, Botton Hill (The Camphill Trust), Oxford Development Abroad and Practical Action.

RAG charities for Hilary term!
The RAG committee have voted for next term's RAG charities, and we've come up with two local and three international charities, all of which are incredibly deserving of our support. They are ACE Centre Advisory Trust Children's Charity, ExVac - Exeter Vacation Scheme, Health Unlimited, Students Supporting Street Kids and Room to Read. Congralations to them all.

IN THE PINK
Our annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research will take place on Friday of 5th week (9th November) in Wadham Old Refrectory. Tickets are a bargain at £5 for The Oxford Belles, Sian Robins-Grace, wine and pink goodies. 8-10pm.

Just a reminder that orders and cheques for college pants are due in next week. Send cheques made out to O.U.C RAG (£5 for girls' pants, £6.50 for boxers) to Claire Addison, OUSU, Thomas Hull House, New Inn Hall Street through the internal mail, or pop in. Alternatively you can pidge your order to your college RAG rep - check the RAG reps link on the left to find yours.

RAG pants at Freshers' Fair
As part of RAG's stall at Freshers' Fair we'll be getting students to sign up for RAG pants - black or white pants or boxers with their college crest printed on the front. All profits go to charity, and you can sit (in your new pants) safe in the knowledge that you have bought ALL available Oxford stash. The pants will also be available to any societies that are interested in a novel way of branding their members! For more info contact rag@ousu.org

Blind Date
You can now get your Blind Date form HERE or off your nearest friendly RAG Rep! Pidge it back with a £5 cheque (payable to OUC RAG) to RAG@OUSU by Tuesday of 4th week, or hand it in to your RAG Rep with a fiver/cheque.

Money, money, money...
Univ raised over £500 last week for Breast Cancer Awareness with a spontaneous 24hr bounceathon, the Bungee Jump raised over £1000 with people tossing themselves off the top of a crane all day for charity, and the last speed-dating event raked in nearly £200. Congratulations to everyone who's taken part so far!
